Sara Maaske, Field Director

Sara Maaske

Sara joined grassroots solutions in December 2011 as the field director on the do.town campaign, a community initiative that seeks to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Sara manages the field plan and directs two organizers in the cities of Bloomington, Edina and Richfield.

Before coming to grassroots solutions, Sara was a marketing professional for hospitals, health systems and nonprofit organizations. Her latest position was Director of Marketing & Public Affairs at Opportunity Partners where she worked to strengthen their collective voice, train constituents to become civically engaged and be advocates, and ultimately empower individuals with disabilities and special needs to achieve maximum self-sufficiency in the community. Sara has also been active in electoral politics, managing three local campaigns since attending Camp Wellstone in 2006. Following these paths changed both her perspective and direction, leading her to attain her master’s degree at the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs in May 2011.

Sara’s passion for connecting with people likely comes out of her long history in the performing arts. At a young age, she began dancing in recitals, then took to singing in church and school choirs, and finally pulled it all together performing in plays and musicals. She remains a fan of the arts but has now directed those energies toward being a person who takes action to make a difference.
