Ryan joined grassroots solutions in April 2010 after working with the firm on field campaigns in support of the Affordable Care Act in Pennsylvania and gay marriage in New York. Ryan helps manage the firm’s large- and small-scale field operations and direct voter contact programs.
Ryan is most proud of his efforts to help re-elect Congressman Russ Carnahan and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley during the 2010 mid-term elections, prevent the recall of Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle, and protect workers’ rights on behalf of We Are Wisconsin and We Are Ohio.
Growing up in a union household in a conservative Philadelphia suburb, Ryan learned early on the importance of organizing to protect the interests of the people against the powerful. Ryan moved to Washington, D.C. to attend the George Washington University, where he majored in political communication and organized some of the first student protests against the invasion of Iraq. Ryan left D.C. to embark on a string of congressional and statewide campaigns in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including Rep. Joe Sestak’s defeat of Curt Weldon in Ryan’s home district, Pennsylvania 07.
