Pam has been with grassroots solutions since day one and has worn many administrative hats as the firm has grown. Now, Pam puts her strong attention to detail and skill for juggling a multitude of tasks to good use as the executive assistant to Dan Cramer and Robert Richman.
Pam has a strong affinity with the labor movement, a passion for social justice, and a commitment to progressive politics. This made her a natural in both Minnesota and Washington, where she worked for Senator Paul Wellstone’s office and campaign, Ann Wynia’s U.S. Senate campaign and Tom Harkin’s presidential campaign. Prior to returning to Minnesota to join grassroots solutions in 1999, Pam worked as the executive assistant to Ellen Malcolm, the founder of EMILY’s List. She also flirted briefly with a career in commercial arts because she hated math – a skill that was put to good use when she dazzled Dan Cramer with her carefully crafted phone bank calendars. This moment marked the beginning of a lasting friendship and long-term professional relationship that was firmly cemented when she joined grassroots solutions.
Pam is passionate about justice and a notorious letter-writer—she is often overheard exclaiming, “It’s the principal of the thing!” She obstinately believes that if you don’t speak out when things aren’t right, you are building a world of incompetence and mediocrity. When not writing letters or managing Dan’s and Robert’s professional lives, Pam likes to spend quality time outdoors with her almost constant companion, Frida, who also frequently fills the essential role of grassroots solutions’ “office dog.” Pam takes time to brighten her space with a postcard and button collection, which she urges you to enhance by sending her one from your own campaigns, causes, or travels.
