Monte joined grassroots solutions in 2002. In his role as a senior project manager, Monte manages integrated grassroots engagement projects on campaigns up and down the ballot for a wide variety of clients, including state legislative and congressional advocacy efforts. In addition to his considerable experience running large-scale and diverse voter contact programs, Monte has expertise in developing strategic plans and recommendations that help build core capacities and sustain the progressive infrastructure. Monte is also known for his work integrating technology and multi-communication platforms with traditional voter engagement and grassroots organizing practices. He is also skilled at utilizing new technology to improve the process of data collection, transmission, and analysis.
Monte’s recent client projects include America Votes, Be One Texas, Engage Maine, the Florida Alliance, State Voices, MN AFL-CIO, Planned Parenthood of North Texas, Minneapolis Public Schools, Maine Won’t Discriminate, the Ohio Democratic Party and State Voices.
Monte developed his knack for organizing in the kitchen. According to Monte, “developing flavor in food is a lot like grassroots engagement. You need a plan like one needs a recipe in the kitchen – it will guide you. Your cooking methods are like your grassroots engagement tactics – the more personal and layered they are in approach, the richer and more flavorful they’ll be, and the more they’ll keep coming back for more.” Unlike other grassroots solutions staff, Monte is an accomplished chef, trained and experienced in culinary arts. It was this skill and precision that allowed him and his team to capture the first annual grassroots solutions Iron Chef competition in 2010.
Monte loves to attend Twin Cities live theater, cheer on the Huskers in football, watch a movie at the Uptown or Lagoon, and participates in the Red Ribbon Ride annually to raise money for HIV/AIDS services in Minnesota.
