Dan is the co-founder of grassroots solutions. In addition to his firm management responsibilities, Dan maintains an active client portfolio and specializes in working with organizations, coalitions, companies, and associations to expand their engagement capacities, build powerful and permanent grassroots infrastructures, evaluate success, and achieve concrete victories.
Dan’s recent client work includes evaluating the national coalitions of Health Care for America Now, supporting the Kresge Foundation in developing and rapidly deploying grassroots engagement strategies in Detroit, conducting a comprehensive qualitative evaluation of the Clean Energy Works campaign, and providing strategic consultation on the Bush Foundation’s new initiative to engage people in solving problems in their communities.
Prior to forming grassroots solutions, Dan held numerous leadership roles for U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone, served as the Executive Assistant to Minnesota House Speaker Phil Carruthers (the underground tunnels of the Minnesota State Capitol complex reminded him daily of his favorite movie, Caddyshack), managed Congressman David Minge’s (MN-02) first campaign, worked as an attorney specializing in government relations with the Gray, Plant, Mooty law firm in Minneapolis, and organized an anti-drug coalition in Chicago. Dan also worked for the Frog and Peach restaurant as a dishwasher and was a scooper at Baskin-Robbins.
