North Saint Paul Referendum, Coalition for Responsible Broadband Choice
grassroots solutions – Bronze

grassroots solutions mounted a successful grassroots opposition campaign to educate a targeted subset of the North St. Paul electorate about a special election referendum through a series of voter contact activities, and to then turn out those who supported the Coalition’s position on the referendum through efforts at the door, over the phone and through the mail. The referendum decisively failed with 67% supporting the Coalition’s position, and voter turnout was nearly 40% – over 20 points higher than the previous special election.

Phones, Ballot/Initiative Campaign, Live Calls – State/Local
Clean Air Kansas Paid Phones Program
grassroots solutions, Stones’ Phones, The Sunflower Foundation – Honorable Mention

grassroots solutions assisted The Sunflower Foundation as they built and launched a smoke-free policy campaign in Kansas.  The campaign, Clean Air Kansas, was created to persuade the state legislature to pass a statewide comprehensive clean indoor air policy.  The paid phone program identified over 11,000 supporters of a statewide clean indoor air policy, and 3,000 constituent messages were recorded and sent to their corresponding elected officials. The Kansas House of Representatives passed the statewide public smoking bill on February 25, 2010, and on March 12, 2010, Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson signed it into law.
