grassroots solutions began working with the Alliance for Climate Protection (the Alliance) on their Repower America campaign in late 2009. Introduced by Al Gore in 2008, the Repower America campaign is working on a plan to power the United States with clean electricity and revitalize our national energy infrastructure. The campaign’s initial focus has been on working to secure the passage of comprehensive climate and clean energy legislation through the Alliance’s affiliated nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the Climate Protection Action Fund. The Repower America campaign created the Repower Wall to showcase the collective voices of Americans in support of the need for change around climate and energy regulation. Over 55,000 people, including some of America’s most respected companies, faith leaders, scientists, members of the armed forces, labor leaders, and doctors, have added their voices to the Repower Wall. grassroots solutions has been helping the Alliance integrate their online and media program with their on-the-ground grassroots efforts. We also helped the Climate Protection Action Fund develop best practices for canvassers and organizers around the county to collect personal testimonials to share on the Repower Wall. We continue to provide strategic advice as the legislative and economic climate changes, and we’re looking at how they can more effectively work on federal and non-federal policies in the future. We’re also assisting the Alliance with their youth outreach program. It has been a tremendous opportunity to be part of an organization and campaign that is both groundbreaking and urgent.
